It’s arrived! Our latest piece of kit is the Massivit1800, a machine that can print objects up to 1.8m tall. And the best thing about it is that it’s quick. Really quick. The first files we sent to this machine were a couple of full sized bowling pins, printed in just 28 minutes.
That’s beyond fast.
This gives us a capability to turn print files around really quickly. The resolution isn’t quite as high as some of our other machines, but in terms of speed, the Massivit1800 knocks it out of the park. If you’ve got something big to print this is the machine you’ve been looking for.
The Massivit1800 printer uses a gel which is extruded at about 0.75mm from the print head. The gel is then cured using UV light which causes it to harden. This process results in a relatively low-resolution print when compared to other technologies, but does lead to very rapid print times. It also has two print heads meaning it can be working on two separate objects simultaneously. And less time on the printer means that these prints work out to be very affordable. The resulting output can then be filled, sanded, primed and finished to produce really high-end output.
The Massivit1800 is particularly suited to producing large scale items for retail displays and scenic applications. The real benefits are scale and speed. There are only three of these machines currently in the UK and only about 35 in Europe. So it’s a very new technology platform and likely to be very popular.
If you’d like to discuss large format 3D printing or would be interested in coming to see the Massivit1800 in action, please get in touch. We’d love to show you what it can do.
