Teardrop Logo

We produced this teardrop-shaped logo for exhibition design client, Korten.

The teardrop was mounted into a void within the flattage of the exhibition stand and connected to a motor which allowed it to gently rotate.

The print comprised three sections, each printed using a different form of 3D printing technology.

The bottom was printed on our Stratasys Fortus 900mc, the FDM material providing a strong base.

For the main body of the teardrop, we used our Massivit 1800, a large format printer that uses a dimengel medium to create large shapes at speed.

The tapered top was printed on our HP Multi Jet Fusion printer which is particularly good at executing fine detail and in this case, a neat, sturdy finish for the precisely aligned aperture which ran the full length of the teardrop.

The aperture allowed for the insertion of a thin metal pole to fit snugly through the full height of the piece and facilitate the logo’s rotation.
