These colour-changing raindrops were manufactured in partnership with our sister company Stage One as part of a promotional campaign for fashion brand, Canada Goose.
We used our large format Massivit 1800 to print twenty-seven raindrops, ranging from 640mm to 1600mm in height.
Using our Massivit printer brought numerous advantages, in particular with regards to size and speed. We were able to print the whole set of raindrops within thirty-seven hours whilst also catering to the large-format requested by our client, We Are Guerrilla.
We were also able to format the structures to leave a hollow core for water pipes that together with a specialist hydrochromic paint finish, helped create the special colour-changing effect.
Using an acrylic based photopolymer made the parts lighter per unit volume, with the twenty-seven raindrops using a total of just 87kg of material.
Once finished, the raindrops toured Milan Design Week, London, Paris, Vancouver and New York. The overall effect was not only striking and unique, but also highly successful in terms of social media interaction for Canada Goose.
